Thats crazy?
2025-05-25 19:29
Thats crazy?
2025-05-25 19:29
And let me guess it will cost bankruptcy in America.
2025-05-25 18:01
Can they edit my genes to become Egyptian?
2025-05-25 16:52
Being able to edit genes could be used for good and bad. Let's just hope that we decide to use this power to help the world, not destroy it
2025-05-25 15:57
This is how we get Gattaca
2025-05-25 11:03
As someone with betathalisima idk if I spelt that right but anyways, I am hoping this gene therapy can cure me because I have transfusions every month and it makes me sick and hate my life because it ruins everything I want to do In my life.
2025-05-25 10:40
Goodluck. thanks
2025-05-25 03:10
Yeah if you reborn ?
2025-05-25 02:57
dont blood cells dont have nucleus with dna,
2025-05-25 02:49
cool but ik they'll make this expensive asf.
so the odds of accessing it for everyone who needs it is low.
2025-05-25 01:53
DOWN WITH MUTANTS
2025-05-25 01:29
By post-transcriptional modification of mRNA?!
2025-05-24 23:22
I'm so happy to be alive while this is happening. Can't wait for more science advances. I hope the government stops cutting funds to research and development. As well as space!
2025-05-24 23:00
CRISPR was just recently used to cure a baby's genetic condition! So awesome to see it becoming a reality.
2025-05-24 21:12
Why is my first thought as I’m watching this “and this is how vampires are created”. I need to go away and work on myself.
2025-05-24 21:11
this technology can be a boon and can be a curse (designer baby).
2025-05-24 21:03
Doctors are not editing, it’s the clinical researchers, scientists and the technologists. Please check the script speaking ?. Don’t be heavily dependent on AI. Use your own brain.
2025-05-24 19:46
@CleoAbram do you think they might be able to change everyone's blood type into O- so everyone would be compatible with each other? Seems like this should be a main focus for the future survival of humanity and would actually assist in the development of universal health care as well. What do you think?
2025-05-24 16:46
Honestly with random guys on youtube deciding to cure their lactose intolerance by editing their own cells (granted its not permanent they gotta redo it occasionally) I'm more surprised they havent been doing this sooner though i guess an official treatment requires more testing and junk than a guy deciding to be their own guinea pig because what they have planned should work.
2025-05-24 14:42
Crispr is so cool! Also does anyone know if this affects the dna that’s passed down? Also does depending on this put us at risk of decreased genetic diversity (which can leave species vulnerable to being wiped out by single diseases)
2025-05-24 12:18
We really shouldn't be doing this lol
2025-05-24 10:40
Couldn't this be used to fix the mutated genes that cause cancer? Holy shit???
2025-05-24 10:20
Genetic healthcare has unfathomable medical potential, I just pray to any entity that can hear me that proper regulation is put in place to make sure no bad actors misuse it...
2025-05-24 08:49
Cool, but someone say about it that you forgot “ONLY IF you have the money to afford it” in the sentence.
2025-05-24 06:44
As someone who has an genetic condition, I hope this happens for us!!
2025-05-24 06:22
Am I the only one scared that this will soon lead to 'designer babies'?
2025-05-24 03:24
They take blood *stem* cells (found in marrow), _not_ blood cells. Edited blood cells would still run out.
2025-05-24 01:59
I wrote an essay about this last year❤
2025-05-23 23:27
That's called genetic modification. Well likely got more experimentally sucessful due to recently discovered molecular siccors: endonuclease-Ligase and also many experiments done on micro organisms and infact it is even use to produce medicine on a large industrial scale with the help of plasmid DNA of the micro organisms. There are many steps to make a genetic modification, first we have to find the desired gene , cut it with ligase, use PCR, and then attach it to the host under special conditions and finally check for the successful genetic modification.
P.S - information from my 12th grade text book . Peace ✌️
2025-05-23 22:25
Hopefully, the hospital will not give all the air I see in the depiction of a blood transfusion- that would be deadly. Just saying, as a retired hematology hospital nurse.
2025-05-23 21:25
Just waiting for conservatives to ban it like they did stem cell research
2025-05-23 20:01
Could this be used to make body parts produce different kinds of hormones ?
2025-05-23 19:00
Well, the problem now is when they will stop to cure and start playing gods ...
Sometime i wonder if it wouldn't be better to not dable into genetic tweaking because it's an open windows to praticly every deviancy and in the end we finish like in the movie Welcome to Gattaca
2025-05-23 18:47
Scientists shape the future, cure diseases, and solve humanity’s greatest challenges — yet they often earn less than those who simply capture its attention. That’s not about impact. That’s about visibility.
2025-05-23 16:26
Yeah trust the science ?
2025-05-23 15:55
Supercell??
2025-05-23 14:47
Time to start saving…..knew I should’ve become a millionaire
2025-05-23 14:41
Not anymore….at least, not in the USA.
2025-05-23 12:33
noice
2025-05-23 11:27
Would it work with people who have stage 5 kidney disease? Asking for a... friend
2025-05-23 09:53
They've been working on this for 50 years. Glad the science is finally paying off
2025-05-23 09:39
The issue is the price, there was a woman who got the treatment for sickle cell disease using kaspr cas9 but it costed 2 million usd
2025-05-23 09:10
It's so amazing I've been hearing about CRISPR since my undergrad and to see this is how far we've come in such a short time, I'm truly astonished and proud!!
2025-05-23 08:26
Gattaca man. I hope genetic discrimination will not be a thing.
2025-05-23 06:58
But are they even trying to fix global warming?
2025-05-23 06:51
What cells? How many?
2025-05-23 06:29
Just curious, but won’t the superior number of cells in the body replicating the bad gene sort of out-compete the few cells they introduce with the corrected genes?
2025-05-23 05:29
can this also be used to slow or reverse aging?
2025-05-23 05:24
Sickle Cell Anemia isn't a great example for that technique…
Sickle Cell carrying saves you from Malaria
Tho I admit, if and when we can treat the Moskitos to not carry that sickness, Sickle Cell becomes... more damaging then useful
2025-05-23 04:09
I have Psoriasis, which is passed down through the Maternal line. Can they fix it?
2025-05-23 03:55
Why does this not wear off to?
2025-05-23 02:42
Why are all the pictures in the articles of black people lmao
2025-05-23 02:15
Oh.....sorry....we did not tell you...?
Yes... there's an expiration date on you treatment...yes..uhm.sorry
...we can increase it of course...
Pay here
✅
2025-05-23 02:02
Yeah i doubt it. too much money to be made treating it
2025-05-23 01:38
Can't wait to see the what tbe crazies come up with to demonize this. "They're secretly re writing your DNA to make you a frog!"
2025-05-23 01:34
Nope we will just cause new ones. Human Genome Project proved that genetic mutations (naturally occuring) that benefit you in one way, harm you in another. Solve one problem you create a new one. Point in case people who are susceptable to sickle cell enema are highly resistant to malaria.
2025-05-23 01:06
You skipped around the part where the DNA has a habit to correct our CRISPR correction. Reverting back to the original state. Unless this has been fixed?
2025-05-23 00:55
Who are these scientists ? and how exactly are these studies conducted and something is invented( or discovered)
2025-05-23 00:52
Yes i have been suffering from birth at last
2025-05-23 00:43
This is amazing and terrifying.
2025-05-23 00:24
Well i hope they can fix my arthritis and psoriasis. Not counting on it yet though.
2025-05-23 00:20
all I thought is HAIR LOSSSSSSSS PLEASEEEE
2025-05-23 00:07
And it would cost $873,000,000
2025-05-23 00:06
Scientists are just nowadays wizards and witches. This is a clear example of a healing ritual, instead of having to consume healing potions every so often. You can't convince me science isn't magic. A few devoted followers of their craft get together, perform rituals in a very specific way to avoid mistakes, speak in runes and symbols, and reach a goal, impossible by sheer human function
2025-05-22 23:53
Didnt American dad mention CRISPR?
2025-05-22 23:47
Im so happy crispr is finally being usws more commonky this is going to be sickk!
2025-05-22 23:44
Yah thats not gonna happen Now. Im sure its "too expensive"
2025-05-22 23:40
We keep hearing about stuff like this, and that soon we'll live forever but drs still can't cure back pain.
2025-05-22 23:21
We're not gonna die from anything and be even more poisonous to our earth and animals
2025-05-22 22:51
Lets keep this in the hands of good, vs greedy.
2025-05-22 22:49
we hv to cure malaria first tho. sickle cells protects against malaria
2025-05-22 22:34
From what I've seen in books tho, this procedure is only a permanent cure when done during embryo/infant period. Once adult, even through this technique, the person will have to go to hospital regularly as the edited cells will die out.
2025-05-22 22:21
I studied about it in college biotech class, pretty cool!
2025-05-22 22:20
Were close to cruring cancer
2025-05-22 22:06
Honestly, ground-breaking and I’m so hopeful that it works commercially! ❤
2025-05-22 21:44
I think were gonna focus on genetech in the future
2025-05-22 21:38
I don't think this will end well.
2025-05-22 21:07
This is simplified for most people. The cell taken must be the stem cells producing the RBC, not just any RBC.
2025-05-22 20:50
Hard and sticky is crazy???
2025-05-22 20:38
Fantastic. But how many strands need editing ? Surely not every one in every cell. Does one only do ?
2025-05-22 20:32
It’s so cool yet so scary.
2025-05-22 20:08
that's a bit GATTACA
2025-05-22 20:07
This new generation get customization option huh...nice ?
2025-05-22 19:56
soooo. catgirls when?
2025-05-22 19:48
They really upgraded genetic modification into gene-modding.
2025-05-22 19:22
Thank you for spreading knowledge about modern science keep it up ?
2025-05-22 19:16
thats great and all but how long before i can pay to become a mutant
2025-05-22 19:06
Another interesting usecase might be a retrovirus, since those can integrate parts of their code into the hosts genome.
So maybe humanity might one day be able to design a virus to cure dna defects and thus also hereditary diseases. ?
2025-05-22 19:02
cleo too hot man
2025-05-22 18:28
This practice of gene editing has been going on for over a decade. Reserved for the rich ofc.
2025-05-22 18:20
Hh?????????
2025-05-22 18:06
Is there any work on editing DNA where repair genes are missing? As in BRC1 or BRCA2? This could help prevent aggressive cancers.
2025-05-22 18:02
The major issue is we can't replace all the cells of the body and the new added stem cells are also not immortal so eventually it's not a permanent cure and it's been already around for over a decade.
2025-05-22 17:52
Fun fact, in countries where malaria is common, it's actually good to have one of the genes for sickle cell (it's recessive, so you need both to have the disease). So alot of people have that gene in those countries through natural selection
2025-05-22 17:36
IF we can edit DNA, would it be the cure for a lot of types of cancer?
2025-05-22 17:34
Why all the articles were illustrated with black people?
2025-05-22 17:05
WAIT HWO DO WE TAKE DNA OUT AND SWTCH IT?
2025-05-22 17:02
Now can they do the same with autoimmune diseases because if so that is huge (from a person with x4 autoimmune diseases)
2025-05-22 17:02
But will it be easy to exploit and restrict for profit?
2025-05-22 16:33
In a few more decades we will be able to edit our brain structure and function. Making us a little less aggressive and tribal, and outright eliminating narcissism and psychopathy just might save us from self destruction.
2025-05-22 16:10
This CRISPR gene therapy med is called Casgevy® (exagamglogene autotemcel)
2025-05-26 09:40
When will humans start curing cancer
2025-05-26 06:58
How long until the military uses it to create horrors beyond our imagination
2025-05-26 01:28
CRISPR successfully treated and new born from synthesising protein it's anew era of personalised medicine
2025-05-25 22:25
There is hope for me ?
2025-05-27 18:56
imagine you get kidnapped and they EDIT YOUR CELLS so you're paralized. what the actual fug?
2025-05-27 18:18
Doctors? No, that would be scientists...
2025-05-27 11:16
We've done a work at school about sickle cells. The condition is native to hotter countries, and some scientists believe it's actually an adaptation! The low concentration of oxygen in the blood makes it impossible for mosquitoes to lay their eggs inside you, which would give you parasites (the baby mosquitoes) and even make you sick.
2025-05-27 03:58
Isn’t this kinda what iron man 3 was about?
2025-05-27 03:28
The cost is probably gonna be unbelievable too
2025-05-27 02:28
Science always tries to disprove GOD is the reality of and in all things/matter/substance/ evidence. Now they realize they can not, so they try to be GOD!
2025-05-26 23:03
We learned in school how a sickle cell aneamia carrier could be unaffected but have resistance to malaria due to the cell shape
2025-05-26 22:31
We could have done this 10 years ago, Crispprs been out for a long time now.
And if the scientists hadn't lied to us. We are supposed to have the entire genome mapped.
10 years ago! This all should been possible 10 years ago. And now it's not going to be impossible for another 5 years.
2025-05-28 18:27
One step closer to making a super soldier serum??
2025-05-28 18:17
Amazing!! I wonder if they could use CRISPR to put the missing 2 proteins back into my DNA? That would be awesome!!??
2025-05-28 14:04
GOD COMMANDED WOMEN IN 1 TIMOTHY 2-9 TO WEAR MODEST JESUS CHRIST IS LORD OBEY HIM AND BELEIEVE THAT HE DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOU AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD AFTER THREE DAYS ACCEPT HIM TRULY
2025-05-28 13:20
They are editing the genes on an alive individual and see the effects on said individual?
That cant be true.
2025-05-27 23:52
Spiderman vibes
2025-05-29 14:17
Aaaand I just know that an edited dna will make some kind of mutant human or insanely deadly disease
2025-05-29 03:16
Conservative Christians not gonna like this ? their God won't cure them but science will
2025-05-29 02:17
????
2025-05-28 21:46
Not if trump has to do with it. Cuts in funding, dear.
2025-05-28 21:13
Hey! Can it help glaucoma?
2025-05-30 05:35
طلاب السادس هذا ما يسمونه بفقر الدم المنجلي في الوراثة
2025-05-29 21:41
That would be the answer to so many prayers. It is a painful gut-wrenching wasting disease. So much respect for the people who go into research to help folks with life-altering conditions.? ??
2025-05-31 11:14
Can they hack my DNA and make my eyes blue?
2025-05-31 03:09
This is awesome but my brain just sees Jurassic Park. LoL But I truly does hope it works!
2025-05-31 01:46
all this info is going to mysteriously disappear along with the people that discovered it
2025-05-30 23:53
In ten years, we're going to be living in Warhammer 40k, aren't we?
2025-06-01 17:18
I want superpowers!!!!!!!!
Lol
Great discovery, wont be suprised if human mutants with abnormal strength already exist ??
2025-06-02 20:35
Designer babies though.
2025-06-02 09:53
Doesn’t the gene have to be implemented when your a fetus, I heard something like editing your genes as an adult won’t be possible because you have too many cells in your body.
2025-06-02 09:40
You should see what we are doing in 2037
2025-06-04 10:48
