Does that have anything to do with the 30 to 40 years or so between hot and cold periods. Early 1800's were cold, mid 1800's were hot, late 1800's were cold, in the1930's most record high temperature records were set that still stand today. 1970's we were in a cooling period, and they thought we were headed into an ice age, early 2000's they thought the planet was going to burn up and called it global warming. And now we can expect to head back into a cooling period by 2050.

This is an extremely weak solar maximum of the sunspot cycle. The sun has been very quiet, and the major flares it has had were not Earth facing, thankfully. The pole reversal on the sun heralds the beginning of a whole different cycle, which could be an 11 year flop, or could be the much expected Grand Minimum.
Check out Oppenheimer Ranch Project for more in-depth explanation of the cycles in his longer form videos. He is a geologist, like myself, and I think he does a great job breaking down the periodicity of the solar and planetary cycles. Lots of info there on magnetic reversal, pole shift, grand solar minimum, etc. Also look at NSO, SolarHam, and Nasa SDO for daily updates.
