Micro controlled nuclear explosions... constant but slow... 40 years to reach Proxima Centauri, our nearest neighbour star.
Not bad... but still be too slow.
We can do better meanwhile... I mean in 40 years of research.

Here's the Irony that will happen...Humans launch this chemical craft...it takes a fifty + years to get to that Star only to be greeted by Humans who have been in that star system for 3 years after fast than light travel was developed
