Heyy, really enjoyed watching your video. I had tears of joy when Tay announced she now owns her entire work - people who hate on her now don’t understand why she started the re-recordings in the first place. And I‘m saying this as the biggest Rep stan (I also clowned many times for Rep TV) - looking back I actually think it’s kinda funny ? I would love to see a video talking about the whole re-recording backstory.

Absolutly right! Last Monday I was like: wth is going on? It was way to much! I‘m so glad she came up with it and shut it done. And I can understand why she did the TV! Without she wouldn‘t be able to bought her music back, I‘m so so so sure about that! It wasn‘t her purpuse to get money out off it, her main purpuse was: She wants her music back! Everyone forgot that in 2020, Taylor came out saying that she was offered a chance to buy her masters back by Shamrock, but refused when the deal involved Scooter at the time, and she had no leverage to change the terms. The same statement also was the first time she announced that she's rerecording her music, so this whole journey has always been for owning her original masters since beginning. It's weird that people thought that she won't try to buy them again or is surprised when she did because what's the point of devaluing her og so much that no one else wanted it except her if she won't purchase it when she had the chance and given a greater deal?

I love reputation as is. Sure, since it was one of my favorite albums, of course I was looking forward to rep TV, but Taylor owning everything that should have always belonged to her, far eclipses any feelings I might have. All I hope for is a vinyl rerelease of reputation with the vault tracks included, to round out the collection. It would feel a little weird having them all except one… but I’m sure she’s already realized that and problem solved the perfect solution to fill the void.

I’m so happy for Taylor!!! I’d love the vault tracks for rep, but To be honest it’s already perfect. That has to be a hard time on her life to relive and rewrite. Those years with Joe meant something and going back to that and those feelings may have been just too much. Could you imagine sitting there rewriting “I wanna wear his initial on a chain around my neck not because he owns me because he really knows me.” And not having that kick you right in the gut!?!?! that’s just part of my hearing and like I said before reputation was already so good for the longest she thought “she just needed to make a better album” when she had the best album all along!!! Yeah I have seen people having tantrums cause they felt "led on" regarding rep tv when it really was people just making their own assumptions and believing what they wanted to see. Her easter eggs have always been super obvious in hindsight, and I also saw this regarding the final Eras tour shows cause fans assumed she would announce something and were mad that she didn't. I have been a Taylor Swift fan since her debut album, I have bought every remaster that she has put out. I had to back away from the fandom because it is 100% a cult now and I want no part of that, and I really didn't like her past two albums which I pre-ordered without even hearing a single song I just blindly jumped when she said jump, so I swore I was never going to buy another album. That being said if she doesn't put out the bonus tracks from the remasters that she was supposed to put out I will probably be done listening to Taylor Swift I know I'm just one fan and it really doesn't matter what I do, and I realize that without her re recording her albums she wouldn't own her albums again but she did technically make a promise to the fans that she was going to deliver and if she doesn't then yes putting out so many remasters, which honestly sounded worse than the original albums, if there weren't bonus songs put on them then I probably wouldn't have purchased them, and the fact that they were then put on Spotify which I pay for already it was kind of like a slap in the face so I really don't need to purchase another album, but shes put out so many different editions of each album for fans to essentially line her multipule estates and plane rides across town with is disgusting. She will be lying to fans if she doesn't deliver and she absolutely is starting to be a grifter just collecting the paychecks from the masses. Yes people have a choice of where they spend their money but she's making it feel like there is no choice and people in the Cult are absolutely buying into that. If she doesn't deliver she probably will lose a lot of her fan base which in retrospect makes them not true fans but again I have been a fan since her debut album, I have gone to 5 of her concerts, I own so much merchandise it makes me sick, but her cult just needs to calm down, and she needs to disappear again for a bit

It is fine to clown and make theories about what we think she means with things, but if you get mad when your own clowning (projection) doesn´t happen, then that´s insane and a YOU problem.
When Taylor started making the TV versions she didn´t believe she would ever get to buy the OGs back, so the fact that the TV versions devalued the OGs and Shamrock did not benefit so much from the sale because of that is amazing. The fact that she finally was ALLOWED (because if she had been offered she would have been finacially able to even before The Eras Tour btw) to buy them back is a miracle and I am so happy for her and happy we were a part of making that happen by supporting her TV versions and tour. I love the new TV versions of her older albums, but REP does not need a new version, and we know if we ask she will eventually give us the Vault Tracks of Rep as she said. And the people who are mad are likely the same people who hated on her during 2016, and honestly, they don´t deserve a new Reputation era. We who were in the trenches fighting for her back then are just happy she never has to go back to that place and put herself through those emotions again. I am so happy for her and proud of her!

im gonna use this as an opportunity to rant
as someone who became a swiftie back in january of 2023, in the midst of taylor releasing stuff left and right, it baffles me how GREEDY some of this fandom is. the entire point of taylor re-recording her first six albums was so that she could OWN them again, own the songs that she poured her heart out into. i saw a comment saying that some of the hate may be coming from those upset because of how hard they clowned for rep tv, and as someone who clowned from the very beginning all the way to the very end, they clearly missed the point of clowning. it was never supposed to be serious, it was never supposed to always be correct, it was supposed to be FUN. not to mention, taylor very clearly stated in her letter that re-recording rep has been a struggle for her, and it's no wonder why. she even said that if fans wanted it, she would release both debut tv and rep tv in some capacity. the taylors versions have given us 26 new songs, including atw10mv, mr perfectly fine, is it over now, i can see you, new album artwork, new music videos, stunning lyric videos, she has given us so much with these re-records, she doesn't owe us anything more.

Also I think it's kind of funny that lots of people were clowning for rep tv and she hadn't even re-recorded much of it. I am not angry at all at Taylor, I'm happy if she has her masters back, but I still think that initially with her team they planned things to be different and then changed plan along the way. I understand what you mean with reading too much into numbers and small details, but I just can't think that the costumes she wore on the eras tour were random, she acknowledged herself on the tour that she knew the fans were tracking the outfits and having reputation to be the only album with only one outfit and a whole set of outfits in black and gold prepared, also wearing the necklace with the symbol that linked back to reputation, I don't know... Reputation is my favorite Taylor album and like the rest of the Swifties I was looking forward to Taylor's version. But now I am just happy for Taylor to own her life's work and I am happy to listen to Reputation again with no guilt. It is a perfect album and she does not need to improve or remake it if she doesn't want to.

Hey Nina! Great job! I’m 100% with you that Reputation is GREAT as is. I so appreciated Taylor’s comments about it in her letter. She had a block and didn’t feel good about re-doing it. How interesting! I was curious what Rep TV could be, but the original album has so much energy and magic and great vocals, melodies, production, and ideas.
Also: I would love a deep dive on Dancing with our Hands Tied. Could that have Matty as the muse? It doesn’t sound like a Joe love song.
I also 100% agree that most of the recent Rep TV clowning was pretty strange. I’d rather focus on her poetry and musical production. Heck even talking about how her voice is developing, how she’s using it.
I am thrilled she owns her masters now, and I felt a bit crestfallen realizing that the TV project has lost the same urgency. But in no way do I think she’s a grifter or dishonest. It probably made sense for Shamrock to sell to her bc she is so headstrong and hardworking that she was going to continue TV and continue devaluing her original catalog.
People love to talk and take others down. Too bad. I bet it’s hard to live inside that mindset.

For me, I think it's the idea of rep TV that I wanted. I figured this out through imagining what Lover TV would be like, and coning to the conclusion that I wouldn't want Lover TV, because why would she need to re-record it; she owns it! I think the idea of TVs has gotten to our heads, because why did/do we desire rep TV so much? We don't want Lover TV or folklore TV. And if you ignore the fact that we've wanted the album for FOREVER, then would I want rep TV? No; I'd just want the vault tracks. But when you think you know something is happening, you want it. It's not even just about the hype, because if Taylor said she wasn't gonna do Debut TV, I'd still be disappointed, because while we haven't craved it as much as rep TV, we still want it.
If we think or think we know we're gonna get something, but it doesn't come, it's bound to be disappointing, especially when desire is thrown into the equation. Here's an example:
So, I don't want Lover TV, but if Taylor told us she was gonna re-record Lover, and it became a thing, like rep TV has, I'd get hyped up, especially if she kept playing with us. Would I like it? Probably not, as just like with rep, it's a very personal album that would be a wreck. But if she told us we weren't getting it, I'd be upset, even if we'd still get the vault tracks.
If we got rep TV, I'd listen to the main tracks probably once, and only like the vault tracks, but I'm still upset that we're not getting it, because it's a thing. rep TV is like GTA 6: EVERYONE WANTS IT! Like, for any of you who want GTA 6, imagine it was cancelled, even if the game was bound to be trash? You still wanted it, so you're obviously upset. It's the same thing.

As someone who didn't even know about "easter eggs" and the online culture around it, I still thought Rep would come out this year. I teared up at the start of her letter and was happy for her, but I broke down crying when she said Rep wasn't coming. I really wanted to hear some Rep vault tracks. Felt like a kiss with a fist lol. Her reasoning was so absurd, too, because Rep isn't an "angry" album. Over half the songs are lovey dovey happy songs. It's fine if she doesn't want to work on it anymore now that she owns them all anyway, but I wish she was just honest about it. I think part of it, even if people don't realize or want to admit it, is that if the re-recording project stops, we will have less to look forward to from her. I'm sure there will be more albums and tours because we know how much not doing those things affects her. It's her job, so she's going to continue doing it. 2 things can be true. I can be insanely happy for taylor Swift owning her original work. That is incredible and the entire point of re-recording. Because the re-records came with vault tracks and new merch fans of debut and rep can be allowed to feel let down.
I think there is a clue in the photos. There are 4 photos, if she only re-recorded 1/4 of rep that means she could have possibly re-recorded the original tracks but perhaps there are 3/4 of material worth of material she will not be re-recording or only if we really want her to.
