I agree that this was my fav song from the deluxe, but tbh it didn’t have a high bar to clear… I really dislike the percussion on it, though, it’s too repetitive and doesn’t fit the more melancholic timber of the song. Generally I have issues with similar choices made on this album; I might actually really like Pink Clouding if it weren’t for the three notes of ah-ah-ah at the end of certain lines in the chorus. Not sure if these are touches added by Max Martin and Shellback, or if she’s just trying something new, but it unfortunately makes me long for the end of the Showgirl era :/

That makes 1/16 of the most poorly written TS album to date actually listenable. Like every corporate entity nowadays, this is “enshittification” of Taylor Swift, one the most polished pop star of our time.

As a day 1 Swiftie, it’s so unfortunate to watch the musical genius become so unfocused as I believe her hunger for money combined with years of overexposure has rendered her out of touch with human experience— the thing she’s spent her career so elegantly writing about.

I can’t figure out why ppl are bothered by the watches line…. That whole verse with the realizing love can stop you from achieving your goals— it’s my favorite part of the song. Babylon def became my instant fav driving song ?

I feel like the reason a lot of the encore feels like it was written in a rushed state. It’s because Taylor said she flew out to Scottlynn to celebrate the showgirl album with her coproducers and then they ended up doing what they do best and going to the studio and writing songs so I think they were just on such a high from the Showgirl album and celebrating it that the lyrics kinda just felt rushed and in a jumblelike when you get something you really want and you don’t have the words for it because you’re so excited

If you think of Taylor as being a lesbian or bi, (as she is frequently flagging, lesbian flag colors everywhere) the song sounds like it is from her perspective and with another female. If you stop putting her in a box and forget the PR relationship with travis,  song analysis will become more clear/easy to you. I love Taylor, speculating that she is gay (She is screaming it in your face) is not mean to her or against what she wants fans to do. Please do not send me hate because I am interpreting her message. A lot of her songs are very campy. It makes her a better artist

Ooh, I thought Babylon is just okay. It feels overwritten. Message is good, but it feels like she is meandering. And production is very right where you left me but meh.
I liked Pink clouding the best, even though writing is slightly autopilot and production is very 1989.
