[ytcid:Ugzn3-FOXzNuNR1XCLZ4AaABAg] If they respect the source material, then I have high hopes for this movie. Hear me out... The guy approaches the farmhouse and asks to use their phone, implying that he either doesn't have one or isn't able to use his (charger/signal/etc) - as well as implying a much more neighborly and friendly society. He goes into the house and the phone he uses is an old corded housephone with a coiled cable, not a cell phone and not a cordless housephone. Why are these two things important? Because they're uncommon or even rare things today. In the modern US, people seem a bit more isolated and less social than they did in the past, and with the presence of cell phones (specifically smart phones), *any* kind of housephones have become obsolete - especially the corded ones; cordless phones became popular in the late 90s and early 2000s when I grew up. All this yapping is to say that: this movie is defiitely set in the 1990s, rather than the modern day. Next, we see that he's at some kind of rural farm house with lots of hills and mountains in the distance. Why is that important? Because in the RE games, Raccoon city is near the fictional Arklay Mountains, which would cause the terrain to be all hilly like we see in the trailer. We do also see a city after this, with an extensive sewer system. Putting these things together means the city is likely Raccoon City, setting of RE2 and RE3, after the Mansion incident of RE1 which took place in the neighboring Arklay Mountains. 1990s, possibly Arklay mountains and Raccoon City, what's going on. Well, I think this is the story of a guy experiencing the start of the 1998 Raccoon City Incident featured in RE2 and RE3. He doesn't seem too suspicious/alert/scared/stressed/etc when approaching the farmhouse so it's likely that the outbreak either isn't fully known about, or it just hasn't gotten to the point we see it in 2/3. This could possibly be set between RE1 and RE2/3. I doubt it's set beforehand since we see zombies in the city, and Raccoon City was relatively fine during the first game; Leon was coming into work assuming it'd be a normal first day in RE2, with no knowledge of the outbreak taking over the city. I do hope this is a one-shot story that delves into a normal guy's experience with the Raccoon City Incident, but it could also be Ark Thompson who knows lol. Either way, I'm excited. I don't wanna get my hopes up after Anderson + WTRC + Netflix, but if this respects the source material then I am *ALL FOR IT!* Either way I can't wait. My only gripe is that it releases on the 18th instead of September 30th
